DESOLATION ANGELS Say They Are Victims Of Greek Bootleg Operation
September 28, 2004Legendary NWOBHM band DESOLATION ANGELS have become the latest victims of a large-scale bootleg operation originating from Greece which specializes in producing cheap CD bootlegs of many '80s metal rarities.
Guitar player Keith Sharp had this to say on the matter: "It has come to our attention that a bootleg has been issued which originates from Greece. Although we know which company has issued this illegal compilation of our first album and numerous demo tracks from the early 1990s, we cannot state their name due to legal reasons as we are currently taking advice from possibly the best copyright and legal team in the music industry.
"To say we are disheartened would be an understatement," Keith continued. "Myself and Rob Brancher (other DESOLATION ANGELS guitarist) have been busy working on both our releases for The Miskatonic Foundation in Studio Rosenquarz in Lubeck, Germany for the past few months compiling and remastering over five CDs the best of our unreleased songs and of course our LP, 7" and demos. It throws our work into disarray as we try to compete with this cheap and nasty bootleg issued by those bastards in Greece! We sincerely hope that people will NOT buy the bootleg, which is packaged to make it look like it is on Thameside Records, as it is poor sound quality and making money only for the criminal who released it — not the band!"
The Miskatonic releases (a four-CD box set and single CD) are scheduled for early 2005 release. Any further information on this matter is welcomed and will be treated in the strictest confidence. Miskatonic urges people to have a conscience and not support the stealing of bands music by these "criminals."
